About

HISTORY

Although La Casa de las Vides is relatively a new winery, the actual winery was built in 1783 and called “La Bodega de La Finca El Galtero”, located in the heart of Agullent in the Vall d’Albaido, just south of the Valencia province.

Since 1955, the descendents of Francisco Gandia have dedicated ourselves to the world of viticulturists. As a vine nursery, we supply grapevines to some of the best wineries throughout Spain. Our vines are cultivated in our three vineyards “El Galtero, “El Catali” and “La Vega”; which are situated in the Vall d’Albaida, the valley from which the Arabs called, “The White Valley” as a result of its brilliant white soils and houses.

With a vast amount of land, large amounts of quality grapevines and an ancient winery in place, the only element we lacked was the production of our own wine. Hence, in 2005, we embarked on the project of to create a modern winery, while respecting the delicate framework of the old winery called, “La Casa de las Vides” or “The House of Vines”.

VIINEYARD

Our vines are planted at an altitude of 400 to 600 meters above sea level, and consisting of white clay and limestone soils, which impart both freshness and warmth to the grapes. Facing west and trained in a trellis system to provide the grapes with both ample ventilation and perfect insulation.

WINERY

La Casa de las Vides is fortunate to have the technical expertise of Ana Martin Orzain. From the very beginning of our journey, we have both held two tenants as fundamental in the creation of our wine, “The most important element to good winemaking is to be consistent in your work ethic and to go beyond wavering trends.” To achieve this goal, it is our belief that it is a gradual process, without fear of either the experience or the research. Finally, we feel it’s imperative to honor terroir, by using the elements of the land to fashion the highest quality wine possible, which distinctly expresses our terroir; whereby, making our wine unique onto themselves.
